Miriam took her tambourine
And sang to the Lord, for the horse and its rider
Were hurled into the sea. But isn’t it interesting,
She took her tambourine. She took it,
When they had to pack quickly and lightly
And rush out into the night on a moment’s notice
Because Pharaoh briefly decided to let God’s people go.
She took her tambourine, and had it also ready
At a moment’s notice to celebrate redemption.
Shall we take our tambourines, our hopes for deliverance,
Our ready songs of praise, and our prepared prayers of thanksgiving,
Just in case God is merciful and we find the tomb empty on Easter
morn? We shall, we shall.
